Cookies and ads notice

Updated October 25, 2026

Version 2026-10

This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies (browser storage, device identifiers) Gawazy uses, and how ads appear on Gawazy. It completes the privacy policy.

1. Cookies we always use

These are needed for Gawazy to work and cannot be switched off. They do not track you on other sites.

  • Sign-in and security: keep you signed in, remember a device you chose to trust for 30 days, protect forms against forgery (CSRF) and limit abuse.
  • Your choices: language, the place (governorate or city) you chose for results, appearance, and whether you have already seen a first-visit tour.
  • Counting visits: a random number in your browser so a business's view and click counts are not inflated. It does not identify you and is not shared.
  • Service protection: our network provider (Cloudflare) may set cookies that tell people from bots.

2. Analytics cookies: only with your consent

We may use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages help people and where they get stuck. They load only after you accept them in the cookie banner; if you refuse or do nothing, they never load. Today they are switched off for everyone. They use cookies and identifiers set by Google; Google processes the data as our service provider.

3. Advertising

Sponsored content from businesses. Businesses can pay Gawazy to show their business, a service, an offer or a banner in fixed places. These are always labelled "مميز / Sponsored" or "إعلان / Ad", are chosen by place, category and channel, and never use cookies about you.

Google ads. In the future Gawazy may show ads from Google AdSense (website) and AdMob (apps) in fixed, labelled places on customer pages, never in the business portal or the admin. Before that starts:

  • personalised ads load only with your consent, through a consent banner that meets Google's requirements (a Google-certified consent platform for visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland);
  • on iPhone, the app asks your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any tracking;
  • without consent, ads are non-personalised;
  • this notice and the store privacy labels are updated first.

4. Your choices

  • Before analytics or ads are switched on, a consent banner asks you first, and a Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page lets you change your choice at any time.
  • You can also delete cookies in your browser; you will then be signed out and your choices reset.
  • On phones you can reset your advertising identifier or limit ad tracking in the device settings.

5. How long they last

Sign-in cookies last for your session or up to 30 days on a trusted device; choice cookies up to 12 months; your consent choice is asked again after 12 months. Analytics cookies, if you accept them, follow Google's own periods (up to 13 months in our settings).
