Copyright claims policy
Updated October 25, 2026
Version 2026-10
Businesses on Gawazy publish photos, videos and texts of their work. This policy explains how a person or company whose work is used on Gawazy without permission can ask us to act, and how the business that posted it can answer. It follows the protection of intellectual property rights under Egyptian Law No. 82 of 2002.
1. Before you file
- Every business confirms, each time it publishes, that it owns the content or has permission to use it.
- A claim must be about your own work (or work you are authorised to act for), for example photos you took, a video you made or a design you own.
- Complaints that are not about copyright (a false review, a fake business, personal photos of you) go through the Report button: see the community and content rules.
2. How to file a claim
Open the content (listing, offer or post) and choose Copyright problem? under it. The form asks for:
- the address of the content;
- your name or your company's name and an e-mail address where we can reach you;
- your evidence: what is yours, where the original is published, and how we can check it;
- a statement, in good faith, that you hold the rights and that the claim is accurate.
You get a case number at once. A claim does not require an account. False or abusive claims may be refused and repeated abuse is blocked.
3. How we decide
- Nothing is removed only because a claim was sent. A Gawazy reviewer checks every case.
- The reviewer may reject the claim (nothing changes), hide the content while the case is reviewed, or remove it. Every decision has a written reason.
- The business sees the case and the decision in its portal; we tell the claimant by e-mail. We share the claimant's name with the business only as far as needed to answer the claim.
4. Appeal
The business can appeal once, from its portal, explaining why the content may stay (for example it took the photos or has the photographer's permission). A different reviewer decides the appeal and the decision is final on Gawazy. Either side keeps every right to go to the competent court.
5. Repeated infringement
A business whose content is removed for copyright several times may lose features or be suspended under the business terms.
