Your data rights and account deletion
Updated October 25, 2026
Version 2026-10
Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 gives you rights over your personal data. This page explains how to use them on Gawazy and exactly what happens when you delete your account. What we collect and why: privacy policy.
1. Do it yourself in your account
- See and correct your name, e-mail, phone and profile: Account → Profile. Businesses edit their details in the business portal.
- Stop offers and news: Account → Notifications, per channel. Service messages (codes, replies) continue while you have an account.
- Remove content you posted: delete a review, comment, collection or share link from where you see it.
- Delete your account: website Account → Security → Delete account; app Account → Delete account. You confirm with your password (and your two-step code if it is on).
2. Ask us
Write to [email protected] from the e-mail address of your account (or use Account → Support) to:
- get a copy of your personal data;
- ask what we hold about you and where it came from;
- object to processing or ask us to restrict it;
- ask for deletion of data you cannot delete yourself;
- withdraw any consent you gave.
We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours before we answer. We answer within 30 days, free of charge. If we cannot do what you ask (for example because the law requires us to keep a record), we tell you why.
3. What happens when you delete your account
At once
- You are signed out everywhere; you cannot sign in again.
- Your name, e-mail, phone and profile are removed from your account.
- Your saved items, collections and share links, likes, comments, follows, notifications, support tickets and sessions are deleted.
- Your ratings stay, but show "Deleted user". Chats stay with the business, show "Deleted user" and lose any phone number you shared.
- If you own a business, it is hidden from everyone at once and its promotions stop. Paid products are not refunded automatically (see the business terms).
Within 30 days
- Remaining personal data is removed, including a business's phone, WhatsApp and e-mail.
Kept because the law requires it
- Receipts and invoices of a business's purchases, with personal details anonymised, for the period tax law requires.
- Security records of administrative actions, and data under a legal hold in a reported case, only for as long as needed.
Backups
Encrypted backups rotate; deleted data disappears from them at the latest after 12 months, and is never restored into the live service.
Deleting is final: a new account starts empty.
4. Complaints
